The Department of Defense (DOD)’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) invests in research on diseases, including various cancers. Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer related deaths. It is also the only cancer in the top five cause of deaths that does not have its own research program within the CDMRP. Instead, CRC research funding is split with other cancers.
